What We Do

Leaders By Design has designed a unique 12-month coaching program involving four steps:

  1. Assessment and evaluation;

  2. Identification of key leadership development areas and a plan for individual development;

  3. Six executive topic areas on significant leadership issues (listed at right) to help all executive men successfully deal with the cultural, structural and interpersonal obstacles that can give rise to inadvertent, non-value added behavior and discrimination at work and embrace the understanding of the important role of women and other minorities in the workplace; and

  4. Ongoing individual coaching to reinforce learnings.

Topic Area I

In an increasingly global business environment, understanding and respecting cultural differences is critical to success. This seminar will focus on acknowledging those intrinsic differences, recognizing the worth and dignity of all individuals, understanding power distinctions, learning to resolve conflict and creating responsiveness across cultural lines.

Topic Area II

Emphasis will be placed on more effective communication by identifying, evaluating and applying each participant’s four “voices”: people, task, control and image. Each participant’s capacity in these four areas will be assessed using real life situations. Special focus will be given to identifying unconscious biases, such as withholding power and leadership opportunities for women and minority leaders.

Topic Area III

Dean presents the seven skills all individuals must know and understand in order to optimize their leadership ability in everyday situations: Listening to Learn, Empathizing Emotions, Attending to Aspirations, Diagnosis and Details, Engaging with Ethics, Responding with Respect and without Bias, and Speaking with Specificity. Participants will learn how to become a motivator, influencer and leader in everyday situations with all diverse groups.

Topic Area IV
