Dr. Leroy Nunery, II, brings over 20 years of experience working with human resources and business development initiatives across a wide sector of industries to Leaders By Design.
From 1999 to 2005, Dr. Nunery II was Vice President, Business Services for the University of Pennsylvania, responsible for oversight of the institution’s major auxiliary enterprises with revenues of $160 million and over 800 employees. He was heavily engaged in the strategic planning and implementation of Penn’s renowned West Philadelphia Initiatives, particularly the inclusion of local minority-and women-owned businesses; a robust employee assisted housing program; arts and culture programs; and workforce development. His professional experience includes 16 years in various roles in corporate banking and the capital markets and 4 years with the National Basketball Association as Vice President, Human Resources and Vice President, Business Development.
Dr. Leroy David Nunery, II, has recently founded PlūsUltré LLC, a management consulting company started in 2007 that specializes in enhancing the strategic, managerial and operational capacities of entities in the K-18 educational spectrum. Throughout his career, he has been quoted and profiled in numerous leading publications and media for his work in business education and diversity. He has been a frequent public speaker and advisor on the issues of education, economic development, leadership development and strategic planning.
Dr. Nunery’s extracurricular activities include directorships on the Financial Performance and Standards Committee of Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Inc., and Savoy Bank, a new state-chartered bank which will provide full banking services to the underserved communities in New York City. Since 1979, he has been engaged with a variety of non-profit organizations as a director, and recently has served on the boards of the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia; The University City District; The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau; the Philadelphia Sports Congress; and the Please Touch Museum for Children in Philadelphia. He is a Lifetime Member of the National Black MBA Association, Inc., and served in several local and national capacities including Past National President.
Dr. Nunery is a graduate of Lafayette College (B.A., 1977), Washington University (M.B.A., 1979), and the University of Pennsylvania (Ed. D., 2003). He is married to Gina Golson Nunery, and they have three children, Leroy David Nunery III, Gillian Golson, and Dorothy Jacqueline Nunery.
